Sol and the solar system
The Solar System consists of Sol and those celestial objects bound to it by gravity, all of which was formed from the collapse of a giant molecular cloud.
Major Planets and Moons[]
- Mercury is the inner-most and smallest planet in the solar system.
- Venus is the second planet to Sol. Venus is considered the sister planet to Earth.
- Earth is the home world.
- Luna is Earth's only natural satellite.
- Mars is the fourth planet from Sol. Mars has two natural satellites, Phobos and Deimos.
- Deimos is the smaller and outer of Mars's moons. In 2408, it was converted into the UESC Marathon.
- Phobos is the larger and closer of Mars's moons.
- Jupiter is the fifth planet to Sol and is the largest planet in the solar system, and is considered one of the four Jovian Planets (Gas Giants). Jupiter has 63 named natural satellites, Europa being the most famous.
- Saturn is the sixth planet from Sol and is the second largest planet in the solar system, and is considered one of four Jovian planets (Gas Giants). Saturn has 61 natural satellites, and Titan takes up 90% of the mass in orbit around Saturn.
- Uranus is the seventh planet from Sol and is the third largest planet in the solar system, and is considered one of four Jovian planets. It has 27 known natural satellites.
- Neptune is the eighth planet from Sol and is the fourth 'largest planet in the solar system, and is considered one of four Jovian Planets. Neptune has 13 known natural satellites.
